Objective:


TSW be able to define flexibility and learn how to achieve it.





TSW learn some stretch exercises to help you become flexible.

TSW use proper technique in completing the stretches.


LESSON INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES  

Opener/ Warm-Up: 

TTW explain to class all about flexibility and range of motion and why it is important to physical activity.

TTW ask student about any stretches they have previous knowledge of.

Lesson √: Circle all that apply -         Academic  /  Fitness  /  Motor Skill      

Content/Focus:

TTW give everyone a mat to perform stretching on and will lead them into the look both ways stretch, handcuff stretch, back scratcher stretch, Kungfu stretch, pretzel stretch, cat stretch, pelican stretch, butterfly stretch and new hurdler stretch with proper technique.

TTW tell students which muscle or body parts are being stretched.

Wrap-Up/Cool Down:

TSW perform cool down stretches also and walk a lap.

TTW talk to class about stretch a quiz them about body parts stretched.

Flex- to bend a joint

Extend – to straighten joint.

Warm up – activity that warms the body up for exercise.

Range of motion – the amount of movement a joint can move

Discussion. Why does ones need to stretch? What is flexibility and why is it important.


Equipment

Yoga mat to perform stretches on.



Safety 

Stretch only to mild discomfort, slow steady breathing throughout stretch. Listen to all instructor instructions.
