Now that we have finished the novel, I plan to inform others of black studies by creating a community engagement program. This program will include many different activities, lessons, and trips for age groups ranging from 5 to elder citizens. The lessons provided through this program will highlight many prominent African American figures who aren’t widely talked about in traditional history classes and the impact those individuals have had on society. Many activities will be planned for the various age groups such as researching historical events, and prominent authors and scientists. A small black history parade will be held for members of the community not involved with the program. The trips will be arranged by age groups and will be focused around visiting historical sites that not only highlight black success but show the harsh and unfavorable conditions which we had to overcome. Of the trips planned one will be to the African American museum in Memphis, Tn. While another major trip will be to the nation museum of African American music.
